Breaking News + Criminal Justice Reporter


  • Cover daily breaking news, producing on average five to seven stories a week.

  • Update our court spreadsheet weekly, which has over 60+ cases, to stay on top of various local and federal criminal court cases, making sure myself or another reporter attends specific hearings, trials and sentencings when needed.

  • Produce roughly two longer-form enterprise stories a month as a part of our accountability team.

  • Strive to produce equitable crime coverage, by following all court cases where an alleged suspect is named through the criminal justice system from an initial appearance to sentencing or dismissal. 

  • Meet bi-weekly as a member of the Statesman’s Clean Slate committee. Review applicantions and determine which of our prior crime stories can be deindexed or removed from our website.

 

The Post and Courier | 2021

Local Government reporter


  • Attended regular city and county meetings weekly to stay informed on the activities of the county.

  • Wrote, edited and photographed daily content for our local bureau; producing on average four to six stories a week.

  • Pitched and wrote content ranging from government budgets, environmental issues, education and breaking news.

  • Created and wrote a weekly newsletter using Campaign Monitor to build it.

  • Pitched bioscience and COVID-19-related stories. Writing independently and producing short and long-term stories.

  • Created graphics and video content for my own stories.

  • Produced stories as a part of the Audience team. Copy editing stories and embedding them with images and multimedia content.

USA TODAY | 2019

Audience and Graphics Intern


  • Worked with the Audience Team to create graphics and designs for USA TODAY’s social and web presence as part of a nine-week internship.

  • Covered various live events, including a Cirque du Soleil show, throughout Washington D.C on USA TODAY’s Instagram stories.

  • Created stagnant and motion graphics for Twitter, Instagram and Facebook with the use of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro and After Effects.

Argonaut | 2018 - 2020

  • Ran and managed the news team for The Argonaut, restructuring the section by creating a breaking news schedule and defining reporters’ beats.

  • Collaborated with nine other editors to push out daily content online and as a part of the weekly print publication.

  • Worked with the production manager to design the paper with Adobe InDesign.

  • Helped reporters adapt to online-only content due to COVID-19 and the University of Idaho going online.

  • Created COVID-19 pages, covering the entire state of Idaho with pages dedicated to timelines and cases.

Blot Magazine | 2018 - 2019

  • Ran and managed the creative team for Blot Magazine, making the final decisions when it came to visuals.

  • Edited a quarterly 26-page magazine for design and visual content. Worked with the editor-in-chief and associate editor to copy-edit stories.

  • Worked one-on-one with five designers to create the magazine. 

  • Assisted the Photo Editor with the magazine cover and edited photos post-production.

  • Assisted with the distribution of the magazine, tabling and looking over the final pages prior to publication.

For Freedoms | 2018

co-leader • Designer


  • Created a billboard with a group of the University of Idaho students for the For Freedoms campaign and held non-partisan events on campus to increase civic engagement.

  • Featured as a showcased billboard on election day 2018 on the For Freedoms Instagram and installed in Lewiston, Idaho. Created with the help of the fifty-state initiative founder, Hank Willis Thomas.
